This piece was Commissioned by Barbara Heilmair forTrio s'Zwitscherl in memory of Franz Cibulka and Gary Gray. I had the pleasure of working with Barbara Heilmair and Juliette Gray (The wife of the late Gary Gray) on this piece. We wished to capture and honor the lives of these two amazing clarinetists. The piece is in 4 movements: Contenment, Comicality, The Curtain Closes, Beyond the Moon
The first movement highlights joy and happiness and love of family and friends and their travels abroad in Europe. Movement two is an homage to the sense of humor and laughter. Movement three reflects the devestation of loss and movement 4 the adventures that await beyond.
