Echo Into the Void and Back to the Light is a piece for solo Contrabass Trombone and Piano in 3 movements: 1. Discovery, 2. Reflection, 3. Joy
Echo into the Void and Back to the Light was commissioned by the incredible contrabass trombonist John Ohnstad in tribute to Jeffrey Reynolds. His recordings using the Contrabass Trombone in the Moravian Trombone Choir of Downey and his inspirational performance on the Minick “Great G” Contrabass Trombone on Strauss’ Alpine Symphony (LA Phil/Methta) continue to inspire generations of Bass and Contrabass trombone players. Special thanks to John for the opportunity to create this piece for him, the consortium, and the awesome instrument that is the contrabass trombone. The creation of this piece was made possible by a Consortium of Contrabass Trombonists, and Contrabass Trombone enthusiasts.
